What is the focus of Training?
Forging one’s mind by training the body
My focus as a martial artist is to develop clear, peaceful state of mind through tranquility which can be accomplished through vigorous physical training. The practice of technique is refining my mental being through physical training. The primary focus is not on self defense, knowing how to fight, to be pampered with positive reinforcement and accolades, but to develop and refine my mind and soul, to cleanse it, to forge it, through the practice of the art. All that follows, the physical conditioning, self defense skills, mental conditioning, pure enjoyment of learning, are all icing on the cake, but it is not what drives me.
