Is the money worth it? Are you doing what makes you happy? We hear it all the time, "no amount of money is worth it...". Are you satisfied with your job? I spent 20 years in corporate finance which was rewarding in its own way, but I loved teaching. From early on, I enjoyed it. The other night around midnight, I was watching a short stick video with a friend of mine and he insisted I teach him something, at midnight... I showed him a couple of techniques and realized how much I loved teaching and thought, there is no amount of money that would give me the satisfaction of teaching. Is the money worth it? Reach for your dreams and settle for nothing less.
What are barriers to people pursuing their passions? Even for the obvious financial reasons, is it not better to adjust a lifestyle in trade for a more rewarding life?
The Wisdom of the Elders - Follow your heart...
The old adage follow your heart and the money will follow may not always work, but pursuing your dreams will give you satisfaction that cannot be quantified financially. I loved teaching, and it is the one of those things that I am passionate about. If it is financially rewarding, wow, but if not, then you make adjustments to life and live satisfied and happy with what you're doing. So I agree with you whole heartedly. I came to this conclusion after 20 years in corporate life and it was financially and professionally rewarding, but never as good as the satisfaction from teaching. It is also a sign of maturing, I didn't believe or accept this concept earlier in my life, but the wisdom of the elders comes from thousands of years of human history and the collective experiences of millions of lives.
best regards
Yes it is, without a doubt.
Yes it is, without a doubt. I've held many high profile positions in earlier careers, including being Head of External Relations for the Mayor of London. I've never regretted moving into martial arts full time, and nothing I did before can compare with the happiness it brings.
